Like many photographers out there, building a website online was something I struggled with. Finding a host, setting up a theme, and getting all the features I wanted. All while trying to do this within a budget I could afford and was willing to pay.
I got my start on Wordpress because I had some web development experience. Wordpress was also super affordable at $12 for the first year. However, Wordpress is also time consuming and requires a lot of maintenance. I then thought about giving Squarespace a try. Everyone on YouTube talks about Squarespace, and I had dabbled with it in it's early days. It was definitely easier to use than Wordpress, however it becomes rather costly at $30 a month.
Finally, a company by the name of Pixpa reached out to me and asked me if I would mind trying out their services. I had actually never heard of Pixpa before, and I was rather sad I hadn't.Pixpa is very similar to Squarespace in that it is very easy to use, it's packed full of features, and it's responsive. The even better part is that the pricing is half of what you would be paying on Squarespace.
Here's some things about Pixpa I absolutely LOVE!
Pixpa offers a range of features such as: themes, ecommerce, client galleries, SSL, blogging, print labs, and so much more. I'm currently on a pro plan which costs only $9/month to which I get a ton of things to build a successful website. Some of these things include: unlimited galleries, use my own domain name, 5GB storage space, SSL Security, Ecommerce, galleries, and a lot more. Needless to say, I'm impressed for what all you get for the price. I was paying $30/month for all this on Squarespace
(that's an extra $20/ month that stays in my pocket).
Pixpa has some of the best and fastest customer support I have ever seen. Rather through email or text chat on their website, most replies came to me within 5-10mins. They always had REAL answers for me and not just links to blog posts to troubleshoot on my own. Something I rarely see with a lot of companies anymore.
The ecommerce galleries are amazing. I can upload tons of photos in as many galleries as I want and sell my prints online! I can also make this an automated process (more on that in a minute). With these galleries I can sell my images by setting sizes, prices, paper types, and print types. The process is seamless and gives my customers a lot of options too.
Automated Printing with WHCC
I live a busy life. I work a 9-5 job, run a YouTube channel, play in a band, and have a personal life. Wanting to sell prints on top of all that was a challenge before. With Pixpa, I can simply setup my print gallery, load in the pricing information, and automate the process with WHCC. When an order comes in, everything is all setup to where WHCC will receive the order, print it, and ship it to my customer. The added bonus, WHCC is my favorite online print lab. You really can't beat their quality of prints, tons of options, and great pricing.
Should you try out Pixpa?
I've been using Pixpa for about 15 days since switching my entire website over from Squarespace. I have to admit I am extremely happy with my choice to make the switch. Not only am I getting all the same features I wanted from Squarespace, I'm also saving $20/month as well.
